Following an earlier blog on Staying classic in PT 8.55, I received a question on ‘Removing Classic Home’ option from the navigation bar which is available by default in PT 8.55. Personalisation feature in classic home allows user to select ‘Left Hand Menu’ as navigation option, which could be a hack for users to revert to old ways of doing things. So removing ‘Classic Home’ on the navigation bar is essential for customers who want to go to fluid completely.
Quick steps to do this is provided below.
Removing ‘Classic Home’ from Navigation Bar
- Navigate to Main Menu > PeopleTools > Portal > Structure and Content
- Within structure and contents, navigate to Root > Fluid Structure and Content > Fluid Homepages
- Open content reference for ‘Navigation Bar’ and access ‘Tile Content’ tab
- In ‘PeopleSoft Application’ section – Uncheck ‘Include’ option for ‘Classic Home’ and set it as ‘optional’
Removing ability to add ‘Classic Home’ to Navigation Bar
- Navigate to Main Menu > PeopleTools > Portal > Structure and Content
- Within structure and contents, navigate to Root > Fluid Structure and Content > Fluid Pages > PeopleSoft Applications
- Open content reference for ‘Classic Home’ and access ‘Fluid Content’ tab
- In ‘Include in Repository’ section – Uncheck ‘NavBar’ option which by default is checked
Can we make it in such a way the classic homepage is available only for few oprid based on roles and permission list

You will have to do it via customization in Sign-on Peoplecode, no configuration option available to do so.

How do you make the change in your development and then migrate it to test and prod? Can I do it with a DMS script or with Workbench?
